Ogun police arrest three for landgrabbing, armed robbery

Men of Ogun state police command have arrested three suspected land grabbers and armed robbers at Itusokun quarter in Odogbolu area of the state.

Açcording to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday, the three suspects, Wasiu Adenuga, Michael John and Moruf Alaba were arrested, following a report lodged at Odogbolu divisional headquarters by one Kemi Olukoya.

Kemi Olukoya was said to have reported that while at her new site supervising construction workers, a group of boys numbering about eight invaded the site and started shooting sporadically and chased the workers out of the site.

She stated further that, the hoodlums also snatched her bag containing sum of five hundred thousand naira and her handsets valued at forty thousand naira at gun point.

Upon this report, the DPO Odogbolu Division, SP Adeniyi Awokunle was said to have mobilized his men, and moved to the scene but on getting there, the hoodlums were seen escaping through the nearby bush, they were hotly chased and one of them, Wasiu Adenuga was subsequently apprehended.

The police stated that “further combing of the bush led to the arrest of two other, Michael John and Moruf Alaba, while three Bajaj motorcycles they used for their operation were also impounded”.

The victim was said to have identified the three of them as members of the gang that attacked her and her workers.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP, Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation. The CP also directed that the remaining members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice.
