Ogun State Police Command said that it has on Tuesday, August 1 arrested nine alleged notorious land grabbers harassing, intimidating and attacking residents of Odosegolu village via Ijebu Ode along Ijebu-Ode-Epe expressway in Odogbolu local government area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, SP Omolola Odutola disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday.

Those arrested were Akeem Rabiu aged 42, Ayodele Nureni, 49, Wasiu Olamilekan 32, Abiodun Adeoye 40, Samuel Abayomi 36, Sesan Badejo 35, Ademola Ajayi 58, BabaFemi Badejo 59 and 31-yrs old Jimoh.

These alleged notorious land grabbers were said to have engaged in series of illegal forcible entry into other people’s properties and attacking whoever confronted them with all manners of dangerous weapons.

Reprieve however came the way of these residents when the Area Commander of Ijebu Ode, ACP Omosanyi Adeniyi while acting on intelligence led some team of crack detectives to this community to curtail the illegality of these alleged criminals.

The suspects were said to have been arrested with dangerous weapons, charms and even narcotic substances. They were all alleged to have confessed to degrees of illegal land conversion, stealing of lands, as well as defrauding people of their hard earned money.

It will be recalled that last month, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu in his maiden speech emphasised that he would never allow those masquerading as land grabbers to ever have a field day again in the state.

The nine suspected land grabbers were said to have been charged to court after the investigation was concluded.
