Ogun Police arrest 27- year- old lady kidnapper demanding N250,000 ransom

A 27- year- old lady, Mariam Ayinla has been arrested by Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping 13- year- old girl, Sofiat Yusau and demanding a sum of N 250,000 ransom.
Crime record from the command indicated that the suspect was nabbed on Tuesday, 20th of December 2022, in Atan Ota area of the state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Agbara divisional headquarters of the command by Ismail Yusau, father of the victim.
He explained that Ismail reported that, he sent his daughter on errand to Agbara market at about 11:am on the fateful day, only to receive a strange call some hours after from an unknown person, who informed him that his daughter has been kidnapped, and that if he didn’t send the sum of N250,000 as ransom, he will never set his eyes on the girl again.
In the same vein, Oyeyemi added that the Divisional Police Officer, Agbara, CSP Abiodun Salau, mobilized crack detectives, who embarked on technical and intelligence-based investigation.
The State Police Spokesman said the their efforts yielded positive result when the suspect was traced to her hideout at Atan Ota Area, where she was promptly arrested and the little girl was rescued unhurt.
Oyeyemi said further, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had earlier kidnapped a young girl at Itele Ota area on the 19th of December 2022, and ransom paid to her before she released her victim.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be handed over to the Anti- kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and prosecution.
