Ogun NUJ mourns Ibiyemi, Publisher of Nigerian NewsDirect

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council said it is with rude shock and untold sorrow that it received the death of Dr Samuel Ibiyemi, Publisher of the Nigerian NewsDirect in the afternoon of Tuesday, 4th of July, 2023.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the union and its Secretary, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju and Comrade Bunmi Adigun respectively, the union described the death of the highly brilliant journalist and publisher as excruciatingly painful as he left when his expertise was needed most.

The union said, “Dr Ibiyemi was a navigator for so many upcoming journalists and provided his company as a source of employment for many interested journalists and non-journalists.

“The Union thought he would survive the brief illness which took his life at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State but since it has pleased God to call  him home now, we pray God Almighty to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and console all of us in the journalism profession.

“May the souls of our dear publisher find repose in the bosom of his creator,” the statement concluded.
