Ogun LGAs receive N3.3bn for December monthly allocations

The 20 Local Government Areas of the State have received a total of N3,398,399,625.97 from the Federal Government Allocation for the month of December 2021 to include shares of statutory allocation, VAT and exchange gain.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape at the December 2021 Joint Allocation Account Committee (JAAC) meeting held at the Oba’s Complex, Abeokuta, said, ingenuity of the Local Government Chairmen as well as supports from the State government would go a long way in providing necessary infrastructures for people at the grassroots.

Afuape said the present administration’s intention to be accountable to the people has informed the consistent JAAC meeting, which involves all stakeholders (NUT, NULGE, LG Pensioners, Traditional Council and others) in the councils, adding that the stakeholders are entitle to know what happens to their monthly allocations, in order to have adequate information for their people as regards the Federal allocation.

Executive Chairman Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun Ogunleye, said, the State government should accelerate action in the harmonization process for them to have improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Earlier in his presentation, the Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Michael Idowu, said that the sum of N4, 013,729,562.22 represented the first line charges for the month, which include primary school teachers’ salary, Local Government Staffs’ salary, Pensions, Traditional Council and other charges.  while the gross deficit is N615,329,936.25, which covers PAYE, contributory pension, five per cent bond on pension and cooperative and loans.
