Ogun LG elections hold July 24 as OGISIEC releases timetable

Barely 24 hours after denying vehemently the purported timetable for the much expected local government elections in the state which trended so well on social media for the better part of yesterday.

Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has on Friday afternoon released the official timetable for the elections into the offices of Chairmen and Councillors in the 20 local governments of the state.

The elections, açcording to statement from OGISIEC Chairman, Barr Babatunde Osibodu are scheduled to take place on Saturday 24″ July 2021.

The statement reads “as part of the commission’s efforts to ensure a free and fair electoral process, a press briefing has been slated for Tuesday May 4th 2021, at the Cinema Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta at 10.00am prompt.

“The Briefing will enable the Commission to unveil the Electoral Guidelines for the Elections to all Political Parties and the General Public.

“The Commission hereby requests all registered Political parties wishing to participate in the forthcoming elections to present not more than two representatives at the briefing.

“The restriction in the number of representatives is to enable the strict observance of the COVID-19 protocols. Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has released the Timetable for the elections into the offices of Chairmen and Councillors in the Twenty Local Governments of Ogun State”.
