Ogun legislators screen Gov. Abiodun’s nominee for Customary Court of Appeal presidency

Ogun House of Assembly on Monday screened Justice Adebisi Femi-Segun who was nominated for the position of President of Customary Court of Appeal in the state by Gov. Dapo Abiodun.

The Speaker, Oludaisi Elemide, presided over the screening session at the assembly complex in Abeokuta, with the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, also in attendance.

Elemide commended Femi-Segun as a worthy nominee who possessed the competence and virtues to occupy the position.

He, as well as other lawmakers, said Femi-Segun’s nomination as President of the Customary Court of Appeal was a right step towards rewarding diligence in public service.

The speaker challenged the nominee, after her confirmation by the lawmakers, to embrace innovation in service delivery and embrace the principle of fairness in justice dispensation while being meticulous.

In her remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Bolanle Ajayi, described the nominee as a good ambassador of the state and the right choice for the position.

Earlier, Femi-Segun, an indigene of Ilaro in the state’s Yewa South Local Government Area, said she had her secondary education at Yejide Girls Grammar School, Ibadan from 1972 to 1976.

She said she later proceeded to Methodist Girls High School at Yaba (between 1976 and 1978) and Abeokuta Grammar School where she sat for her HSC (between 1978 and 1979).

“I had my National Certificate of Education (NCE) from Lagos State College of Education between 1979 and 1982, before I left for the University of Ife to obtain a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from 1983 to 1987 which led me to the Nigeria Law School at Victoria Island in 1987.”

Femi-Segun was appointed a judge in the Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal in December 2019.

This was before her emergence as the Acting President of the State Customary Court of Appeal in February 2023.
