Ogun govt commends Chairmen over projects execution despite limited resources

Ogun State Government has commended Chairmen of Local Government  in the State for the initiative of funding projects with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) amidst limited  resources.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape gave this commendation at Abeokuta South Local Government, during a programme commemoration of 100 days in office of the Chairman, Hon. Omolaja Majekodumi.

Afuape said the Chairmen’s relentless efforts to give back to the people was worthy of praise, considering  dwindling resources in the country.

He, however, urged the Chairmen, not to be deterred in their good wits but rather strive more to leave their footprints on the sand of time at their various councils.

He lauded the activities going on in the council area, noting that the government had empowered women in Abeokuta South Local Government through investment in their trades in order to reduce the level of poverty among the citizens.

In his speech, the Executive Chairman of the council, said his administration already had a roadmap hinged on the provision of basic necessities of life such as healthcare, education, safe environment, lucrative and robust business environment for all, adding that he would continue to engage in intensive IGR generation for the benefit of the people.

Majekodumi appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for the inflow of developmental projects and programmes evenly distributed across the three senatorial districts of the State, describing  the Governor  as a pacesetter.

Projects commissioned include, 14 open stalls at Itoku, while foundation block  for the  construction of four lockup shops with two modern toilets at the council’s secretariat, Ake was also laid.

Distribution of Exercise Books to Primary School Pupils, empowerment of 75 youth and women in 15 wards of the council as well as provision of palliatives measures on some roads in the council including Saje junction, Iporo-Ake/Okejigbo and Adatan/Carwash roads among other activities were carried out.
