Ogun govt commences construction of Molusi road, others

In fulfillment of providing infrastructural development and ensuring the implementation of urban renewal agenda of the present administration, the Ogun State Government has commenced the construction of some approved roads across the State.
It will be recalled that the State Executive Council in December, 2020 approved the immediate construction of some roads including Molusi College road, Ijebu-Igbo and Igan road in Ago Iwoye, Ogun east senatorial district, Oke-Ola road in Imeko, Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, and Ibooro/Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro road, Ado-Odo / Ikoga road in Ogun west senatorial district.
The approval and commencement of the roads construction açcording to the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, is in line with the commitment of the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun to the even and continuous development of road infrastructure across the State, as evident in other road projects being carried out in each of the three senatorial districts.
Speaking with journalists during the assessment tour of some of the ongoing roads construction, Engr. Ade Akinsanya said the government is guided by the viability and condition of the roads with a view to improving commercial activities and reduce hardship being faced by residents and motorists especially, during the rainy season.
“We have resolved to ensure immediate construction of roads like Oke-Ola road in Imeko, Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, and Ibooro/Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro road, Ado-Odo / Ikoga road in Ogun West Senatorial District. Others are Molusi College road in Ijebu-Igbo, as well as Igan road in Ago Iwoye, Ogun East because of their economic values and viability to the growth of the State,” Akinsanya stated.
The Commissioner said that construction works are also ongoing in different parts of the State simultaneously, alongside clearing, excavations and laying of precast drainages in Ogun East Senatorial District, which include, Ilishan market road, Ilishan, and Igan-Imere road in Ago-Iwoye.
Speaking at one of the construction sites, the contractor handling the 3.9km Molusi college road, Engr. Joseph Adegbesan revealed that the project when completed would be provided with standard drainages, lay-byes, street lights, service dots and walk-ways, among others, to make it a standard road befitting of the present administration’s urban renewal development.
While appreciating the State government for developmental projects in their area, a resident, Mr. Gbenga Kalejaiye, explained that the road had been neglected by past administrations, saying that the construction would not only avert flooding experienced over the years but would also enhance economic growth of the council area.
A community leader at Molusi college road, Mr. Kazeem Ademefun said the people of the community would continue to support the present administration’s agenda to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
