Ogun budget ministry commences year 2022 quarterly project evaluation

In furtherance of its commitment towards ensuring equitable distribution of projects and its prioritisation across board, Ogun State Ministry of Budget and Planning have met with Ministries, Departments and Agencies for the year 2022 Medium Term Sectoral Strategy (MTSS), first-quarter Performance Review Meeting targeted at evaluating government’s expected outcomes in view of changing needs and circumstances.

The MTSS Quarterly Performance Review Meeting also seeks to provide MDAs with a systematic process for adapting to deal with emerging changes whilst prioritizing policies and procedures that would help the government plan for strategic and realistic budgets for expected benefits.

Speaking at the meeting in Abeokuta, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, said the Review is better achieved when conducted at the end of each quarter within the financial year, tasking the MDAs on the need to monitor projects, embark on evaluation of projects as well as ensure a feed-forward towards a viable expected outcome.

“I quite agree with embarking on this Quarterly Review of our plans, projects, and programmes for our people. We have said we should not always wait till the end of each quarter before we review our sectoral strategies for the overall benefit of the dear people of our State,” he submitted.

The Commissioner, who maintained that the MTSS which is the third aspect of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) would evaluate sectoral allocations of projects that would be beneficial and add value to people’s livelihood across the State, agreed that a project that could not be evaluated is not a good plan.

On his part, Secretary of the Infrastructure Sector, Engr. Adebayo Akinnuyi said the meeting is to ensure that Sectors are working in line with the MTSS document to ensure the level of activities in relation to how projects were been handled.

Also present at the review meeting were the Permanent Secretaries in the Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada, Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Oladimeji Yusuf, and Rural Development, Mr. Tunji Kanimodo.
