Ogun budget: LG and Chieftaincy Affairs ministry to expend N274m in 2022
The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuwape has appeared before the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation to defend its proposed budget for next year to the tune of N274,036,677.62.
The amount was budgeted by the Ministry being part of the State Government budget proposal as contained in the year 2022 Budget of Restoration.
Afuape noted that the sum of N131,667,193.81, which was 48.05% would be expended on personnel cost, while the sum of N47,922,379.84, which was about 17.49 % would cover overhead cost; explaining that the remaining 34.47% would be for the capital cost amounting to N94,447,103.97.
According to the Commissioner, the revised estimates of personnel, overhead and capital cost percentages were 51.75, 24.02 and 24.23 per cents, stressing that the objective of the budget was to monitor projects across the 20 Local Government Areas, improve capacity of Local Government personnel and Ministry officials for efficient service delivery as well as improve welfare of the Traditional Rulers to bring up the dignity befitting their status.
The Chairman of the Finance and Appropriation, Olakunle Sobukanla as well as his counterpart in charge of LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ajayi Bolanle Lateefat however commended the efforts of the Ministry and thereby advised that there was need to adjust their proposed estimate on fuelling to reflect the projections of the federal government on likely increment of the pump price of the petroleum in the next fiscal year.
