The Ogun State House of Assembly has called on the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, to intensify efforts on road reconstruction and rehabilitation across the state.

The call was made by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, in response to concerns raised by members representing Ijebu-North East and Ifo 2 state constituencies, Hon. Oluseun Adesanya and Hon. Fola Salami, respectively.

The lawmakers reported the deplorable condition of roads in their constituencies, including the Stadium-Idomila-Idomowo-Barrack road and the Taju Bello-Hercules-Giwa road, which has caused flooding and affected houses in the area.

The Speaker acknowledged the state government’s efforts in road construction and rehabilitation but urged the works ministry to do more.

In another development, a bill titled “HB. No. 016/OG/2024 – The Principal-General (Creation of Office) Law, 2024” scaled first reading on the floor of the Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has assured residents of Agboro village, Obafe, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, who presented a petition on alleged land grabbing, that their request would be promptly attended to.

The Speaker noted that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration has zero tolerance for land grabbing cases and recalled that the Assembly had passed a law on anti-land grabbing and anti-cultism to address such issues.
