Ogun Assembly summons Owoeye over alleged land invasion

Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned one Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye of Agbara Junction, Atan-Ota, Ado-Odo local government to appear before its Committee on Lands on Friday, August 27 by 11am over allegation on land invasion.

The assembly summoned Owoeye to appear before it following a petition from 12 Community Development Associations at Obada Oko within Ewekoro Local Government of the State on allegation of land invasion, as presented by the lawmaker representing Obafemi/Owode State Constituency, Hon Damilola Soneye.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has also acknowledged Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s letter requesting the Assembly’s consideration and approval for the 2022-2024 State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (2022-2024 MTEF) to aid the smooth process of planning and budgeting for the next fiscal year.

Abiodun’s request according to the letter dated 23rd of August, 2021 and read at the plenary by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, during the resumed plenary after a three-week recess ,was in accordance with relevant sections of the State Fiscal responsibility Law, 2020.

The Governor also through another correspondence proposed an amendment to the State Public Procurement Law, 2014, in response to the need for the State to comply with the World Bank Annual Performance Assessments (APA) 2 and 3 respectively, which placed a strong emphasis on the independence and professionalism of the Public Procurement Regulatory Agency.

The lawmakers during the sitting on Tuesday presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo later observed a minute silence in honour of the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and a former Senator elected on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) who represented Ogun East Senatorial District from 1999-2003.

The assembly described him as a thorough-bred legislator, loyal party man, illustrious son of the State and a distinguished Nigerian.

The legislators equally commiserated with Mr. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, a three term governorship candidate in the state over the death of his mother praying the almighty Allah to grant Mama Aljanah fridous.
