Ogun State House of Assembly has screened the nominee for the State Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Olanrewaju Ogungbade, with a challenge to him to ensure the immediate implementation of the State Law Reform Commission, 2021 passed earlier in the year.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, who presided over the screening threw the challenge while screening the nominee at the Assembly Complex Abeokuta, following his nomination by Governor Dapo Abiodun to the legislative arm for screening.

Oluomo stressed that the law was targeted at retaining the State in its pride of place through seamless review of the State’s operational laws in line with societal realities and global best practices.

The Speaker in company of other lawmakers, tasked the nominee to ensure that reforms were put in place to strengthen justice administration through seamless access to  justice by the people, with a view to further decongesting all correctional faclities in the State.

Other State lawmakers charged the nominee to use his wealth of experience upon confirmation to further promote mutual interdependence of the three arms of government to deepen democratic practice.

Responding, Ogungbade stated that he was determined to ensure that every common man in the society had unhindered access to the justice, adding that he would aggressively explore all legal and administrative mechanisms including plea bargain to aid justice dispensation.

The Commissioner nominee is an indigene of Abeokuta North and Senior Advocate of Nigeria-Designate.

He attended Abeokuta Grammar School between October 1985- June 1991 and proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo where he bagged Bachelor of Law in 1998 and subsequently to the Nigeria Law School, where he passed out in August, 2000.

He has varied legal practice experience having appeared as Lead Counsel in over 50 appeals decided by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
