Ogun Assembly passes Judicial Funds Management Bill, as three others scale first reading

Ogun State House of Assembly today passed the State Judiciary Funds Management Law, 2021, with three other bills scaling first reading.

The passage of the bill title: “H.B. No. 068./OG/2020- A Bill for a law to make provision for the Ogun State Judiciary Funds Management and other Matters connected therewith, 2021,” followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by its Chairman, Kunle Sobunkanla at a session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo.

Sobunkanla, thereafter moved the motion for the adoption of the report, seconded by Ganiyu Oyedeji and supported by other lawmakers through a voice vote.

The bill was later read and adopted clause-by-clause by the lawmakers, after which the motion for the third reading was moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Solomon Osho, leading to the third reading of the bill by the Clerk of the House and Head of Legislative Services, Deji Adeyemo.

Responding, Speaker Oluomo directed that the clean copy the bill be transmitted to the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.

In a related development, three other bills including  H.B. No. 065/OG/2021- The Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Commission (Amendment) Law, 2021, H.B. No. 066/OG/2021- The Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology, Omu-Ajose, Law, 2021 and H.B. No. 069/OG/2021- Obas and Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council Law of Ogun State, 2021 equally scaled first reading at the plenary.
