The Ogun State House of Assembly has strongly condemned the persistent invasion of the state by police officers from the Lagos State Command, particularly from Zone 2 Command Headquarters and FCIID, Alagbon, who are arresting innocent residents and enabling land grabbers and illegal claimants to chieftaincy stools.
Speaker Oludaisi Elemide denounced the actions, stating that some security operatives are working beyond their jurisdictions due to vested interests and criminal elements.
“Some security operatives are working beyond their jurisdictions, and it is unacceptable. We will not compromise our sovereignty,” he said.
The Assembly called on the State Attorney General, Commissioner of Police, and Amotekun Corps Commander to enhance security measures and curb criminal activities. They also urged the Inspector General of Police to intervene, emphasising that the state will not compromise its sovereignty.
In a related development, the Assembly will hold a public hearing on the Ogun State Consumer Protection Law, 2024, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. Stakeholders are invited to attend.
