Bankole Taiwo, Abeokuta
The youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikenne Local Government, Hon Raymon Sonuga has said that the return of Gov Dapo Abiodun for another term was not a fluke but a reward for excellent service delivery which had been the hallmark of the governor’s administration since coming to office in May 2019.
Speaking with journalists at Abeokuta, the state capital on Wednesday, Hon Sonuga explained that it would have been another wonder of the century to him if Gov Abiodun had been defeated during the March 18 governorship election bearing in mind his gargantuan achievements which cut across all the critical sectors of the economy.
Sonuga said “there is no denying the fact that Gov Abiodun has not only been selfless but have also been strategic in the implementation of policies and programmes that have contributed to making life worth living in the state.
“The indelible footprints of the governor is in road construction, many of our abandoned access roads have been fixed, talk of qualitative healthcare delivery, education, housing, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, not forgetting the ongoing Agro-Cargo Airport etc. so, the governor has done extremely well.
“So why will the people of Ogun State not vote for the governor again to continue with his good works? The more reason I wish the opposition, that is, the PDP governorship candidate, Hon Ladipupo Adebutu will just step down his case before the tribunal and support the governor who happens to be his brother from the same town of Iperu Remo in Ikenne Local Government to lift the state to enviable height”.
The youth leader has however appealed to Gov Abiodun to expedite action on the ongoing Agro-Cargo Airport urging him to see to its completion and full operations within the shortest time.
Sonuga said “we are grateful to Gov Abiodun for the ongoing construction of the International Agro-Cargo Airport at Ilisan, we salute his doggedness and commitment to get the project completed on time. This is one project that will create thousands of jobs for the youths and impact greatly on our shared prosperity in the state.
“It is against this background that we are urging the governor to ensure that this project is completed on time and made to commence full operations within the first year of his second term in office. The governor can always count on our support and cooperation to further expand the frontiers of socio-economic development in the state”
