Ogun: 32-year-old technician stabs transport worker to death on Christmas day

Ogun State police command said it has arrested a 32-year-old Fridge/Airconditioner technician, Toheeb Akanji, aka T.Cash for stabbing to death one 42-year-old, Damilare Babatunde Oladipupo, aka No Story and member of one of the transport unions in the State.
Toheeb Akanji was said to have committed the crime at about 12:30 a.m. early Saturday morning at Blue Roof Hotel, Adiyan Gasline, an Ogun community sharing boundary with Lagos State.
According to statement from the Spokesman of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Toheeb was arrested after a distress call over the incident was received at Agbado divisional headquarters of the police at about 12:30 midnight.
One Oluomo was said to have reported that one Damilare Oladipupo Babatunde, aka no story who came to Blue Roof Hotel in Adiyan Gasline to celebrate with the hotel owner had been stabbed to death by an unknown person.
Receiving the distress call, the DPO, Agbado Division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga was said to have quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene. On getting there, it was discovered that the deceased was lured out of the hotel and stabbed severally on the chest, hand and face.
It was also further discovered that he struggled with his assailant which made him to seize the cardigan wore by the suspect as well as the knife he used to stab him.
Damilare, the transport worker was said to have been rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, who was immediately informed of the incident was said to have promptly directed that the suspect must be hunted for and brought to book within 24 hours.
Upon the directive of the Commissioner of Police, the DPO and his men were said to have embarked on intelligence based investigation, and at about 5 p.m. of Saturday 25th of December 2021,the suspect was arrested.
On interrogation, Toheeb reportedly confessed killing the deceased but blamed it on the devil.
He stated that he came to the hotel to find out who beat and injured one of his boys, but on getting there, the deceased accosted him and started fighting with him and that the deceased then attacked him with knife.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
