OGIRS to fine tax defaulters N500,000

The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has revealed that individuals or organisations who fail to file their 2023 Annual Tax Returns before the deadline will be fined N500,000.

This is as the revenue agency warned that there will be no extension of the due date.

According to the Executive Chairman OGIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye who gave the warning in a release from his office in Abeokuta, Tax Agents were expected to statutorily file their 2023 employees Tax returns on or before 31st January, 2024

The warning disclosed that failure to file the Tax returns within the time frame would attract a penalty of five hundred thousand naira only.

He enjoined them as responsible citizens to carry out their civic responsibilities as expected to enable the government deliver on its electoral promises.
