Ododo orders disbursement of water palliative to Lokoja residents

Following the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Lokoja Greater Water Works and the Old Lokoja Water Works, the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has directed the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk to, with immediate effect, provide free water tankers services to the residents of Lokoja, the State capital as palliative.

Gov Ododo gave this directive in his office in response to several complaints of inadequate water supply by residents of Lokoja.

Speaking further, the Governor disclosed that other things being equal, the old Lokoja Waterworks, which will pump water to consumers within Lokoja metropolis, will become fully functional before the end of this week while work on the Lokoja Greater Waterworks is ongoing as all challenges holding it to function are being comprehensively addressed by the experts.

The Governor, who is committed to seeing consumable waters flow unhindered henceforth, has further directed the Commissioner to ensure that no stone is left unturned in ensuring that every part of the State is reached.

The Water Resources Commissioner commenced action by visiting the Lokoja Greater Waterworks and the old Lokoja Waterworks to further inspect and carry out a technical assessment of the facilities in company of the team of  experts that will be working on them.
