Obasanjo regrets supporting Buhari for President in 2015 with calls

…Says he’d have gotten 3rd term if so desired

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed regret for supporting Muhammadu Buhari for president in 2025 with calls.

Obasanjo disclosed that he regretted endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari for president in 2015.

He has also denied involvement in his alleged failed ‘third term’ project asserting that he would have gotten this achieved if he had actually wanted a third term.

A writer, Ifedayo Agoro, popularly known as ‘Diary Of A Naija Girl’ quoted the former president to have said this on Friday when they met on a plane.

It was learnt that Agoro, who tweeted about her encounter with Obasanjo, said she posed questions to the former president and got answers.

“I made a mistake supporting Buhari, he knew nothing about the economy. We thought he would fight corruption and insecurity, then hire people who know about the economy and infrastructure. Big mistake’ he said.

“I didn’t want a third term, if I had wanted a third term, I would have gotten it,” the former president also reportedly submitted.

Obasanjo, a retired General, served as Head of State from 1976 to 1979 and later served as Executive President between 1999 and 2007.
