Obamogie flee for life after Boko Haram attack in Kano

James Obamogie, a resident of Benin City, Edo State, has recounted his harrowing escape from the militant group Boko Haram following a deadly attack in Kano State that made him flee the country for his dear life.

According to sources, the incident, which took place on September 16, 2016, at the Teacher Training College in Kano, claimed at least 15 lives and left 34 others injured as gunmen opened fire on students and staff.

He recounted how his father, a Christian preacher, was initially targeted by the militants, but managed to escape the attack later hunted down and killed by Boko Haram operatives, who accused him of being an informant and preaching against their ideology.

The group, notorious for its violent attacks across northern Nigeria, vowed to kill Obamogie and his family members, prompting him to flee for his life.

“I have no other option than to run for my dear life to avoid being killed,” Obamogie reportedly stated in a statement submitted to authorities for official records.

He also described the ordeal as a deeply traumatic experience, noting the constant threat that Boko Haram poses to him and his relatives.

Afraid that his life and that of his relatives are not safe with the Boko Haram threats still hanging over them he said he is not expected to be back in the country.
