Oba of Benin’s aide debunks arrest, detention rumour

Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council (BTC), Frank Irabor, has vehemently denied what he described as a false publication on social media that he was arrested and detained by the police on allegations of land grabbing.
He made the denial in a press statement on Tuesday night thus: “My attention has been drawn the the malicious, defaming and, misleading Information on social media that I (Frank Irabor), Secretary, Benin Traditional Council have been arrested and detained in the State Criminal Investigation Department, Benin City, for land grabbing.
“Normally, I would not have bothered to utter a single word, but for reason of clarification and putting the record in the proper perspective, I have decided to respond accordingly.
“I was never arrested or detained in the State Criminal Investigation Department, Benin City.
“That I have never been involved in any land grabbing.
“The real land grabbers have never been comfortable with my stand against land grabbing in Benin Kingdom.
“Those that concocted this false publication, are social media miscreants and should be ignored in its entirety.
“I remain committed to the services of the great Oba of the great Benin Kingdom.”
