OAU at 60: Faculty of Social Sciences set to unveil revamped faculty building, lecture theatres

As part of the efforts put in place to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), the Faculty of Social Sciences is set to officially unveil the renovated building of the faculty as well as two lecture theatres.

The official presentation will take place by 11.00 am on Monday, July 18th, 2021 at the Faculty Board Room.

The Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, OAU, Professor P.O. Ogunjuyigbe disclosed the above in an invitation letter.

Professor Ogunjuyigbe also noted that, during the presentation, the Faculty will host the Vice-Chancellor and other Principal Officers of the University.

Meanwhile, the diamond jubilee which commenced on June 6 will come to its climax with the convocation ceremonies in December 2021.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Eyitope Ogunbodede, had earlier revealed that there will be specific college, faculty and departmental activities where the major research and innovations of the university will be exhibited.

Formerly known as the University of Ife, the popular institution was founded in 1961 by the Western Region government.

However, the Federal Government renamed it Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) on May 12, 1987 to honour late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first Premier of the region.
