The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Muhammad Fadah, has said the recently passed NYSC Trust Fund will benefit corps members when it becomes law.

Fadah, who disclosed this at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, said NYSC Trust Fund which was passed on Tuesday by the National Assembly was only waiting for President Muhammadu Buhari to sign it into law.

He, therefore, implored the Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 corps members deployed to Ondo state to shun use of Social Media negatively and urged them to take advantage of the various skill acquisition programmes made available at the camp.

According to him, it was imperative for corp members to be equipped with necessary skills in order to benefit from the Trust Fund by the time it will take off.

“In the 70s and early 80s, the Federal, State and Local Governments will look for you to come and work for them.

“Now, that era is over. That is why the scheme established the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) programmes for you. Please take advantage of this situation.

“Get a skill, you may not know when that skill will be useful to you. Please avail yourself. Just go and train yourself in a skill.

“NYSC Trust Fund was passed on Tuesday by the National Assembly. It is just left for the President to assent to it.

“When it becomes law, at the end of your service year, each and every one of you will have a token that you can use to establish your business,” he said.

In her address, the State NYSC Coordinator, Victoria Ani disclosed that a total number of 1311 corps members comprising of 330 males and 978 females were registered into the camp.

“I wish to assure you that our activities in camp are not compromised. The corps members are already in high spirit receiving lectures as well as the skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme which has kicked off,” she said.
