NYSC sanctions 21 erring members in Osun

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Osun State Secretariat has revealed that 14 corps members are to have their service year extended for various infractions.

It said 7 others were declared absconders for incessant absence from their places of primary assignments for the number of periods stipulated in the NYSC Bye-Laws.

This was made known by the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Olayinka Abdulwahab during the passing out parade for the NYSC members of the 2021 Batch C Stream I in Osogbo on Thursday.

Abdulwahab also revealed that a total of 2353 Corps members have also successfully completed the one year mandatory service for the 2021 Batch C Stream I service year.

This is coming after the fulfillment of the requirements for the issuance of the Certificate of National Service.

Olayinka also made it known that the scheme as a training ground for mobilised graduates employs the system of the carrot and stick to achieve her objective of instilling discipline in the members.

The Osun NYSC State Coordinator, who visited some of the local governments during the POP exercise which was low-keyed, thanked the corps members for the selfless service rendered during their service year.

“The impact you have made in the various host communities will forever be cherished and relieved by the people of the community.

“Utilise the training garnered during the course of the service as you step into the larger and competitive society.

“Never let go of the skills instilled in you through the orientation and post orientation experience,” she advised the corps members.

She also appreciated the corps employers and the people of Osun State for embracing the NYSC members and treating them like their kin.
