NYSC lauds NCDC for successful collaboration with scheme

The Lagos Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr Eddy Megwa, says the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)  has contributed  significantly to the smooth operations of the scheme.

Megwa made the assertion  at the swearing in ceremony of the  2021 Batch C, Stream 1 corps members on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to him, NCDC has also contributed to a major requirement for participating in the scheme, having  deployed its officials  to orientation camps across the country.

“The collaboration with NCDC has been wonderful; they have always been readily on ground since the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“They are not just on ground, but also providing kits to conduct the COVID-19  test and we sincerely appreciate this great support,” he said.

Speaking further, Megwa urged the newly sworn in corps members to key into programmes in the camp with commitment.

He said that the corps members, comprising  of 1,270 females and 761 males as well as NYSC camp officials, had all undergone the mandatory COVID-19 test and been certified free.

“My expectations from these corps members  are very high and large, because NYSC at 48 had made remarkable impression in the nation Nigeria.

“NYSC is not only a national brand, but had grown to become an international brand.

“I, therefore, urge you to prove in the orientation camp to be  worthy in character, learning, seriousness, zeal in all the programme and trainings, which you must avail yourselves in the next three weeks.

“It is essential and I must advise that you take keen interest in the skill acquisition programmes, to create employment for yourselves and be employers of labour, as unemployment is soaring higher,” Megwa stated.
