NYSC DG warns Corp members against unauthorized journey

In a bid to inject more discipline into the system, Corps Members have been warned to avoid traveling without getting approval from the National Youth Service Corps.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed gave the warning during his visit to the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Corps Members in Bayelsa State Orientation Camp, Boro, and Rivers State Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area of the State.

He said any Corps Member that travel without obtaining permission from NYSC would be dealt with according to NYSC bylaws.

He also urged them to be security conscious at all times, adding that they must avoid youthful adventures that can put them in harm’s way.

General Ahmed advised the Corps Members to add value to their Place of Primary Assignments, serve their host communities diligently and execute laudable projects that would improve the standard of living of the residents.

“You must attend all the lectures in camp. Maintain good relationship among yourselves and add value to your host communities and place of primary assignments by executing good projects”, he added.

The NYSC Bayelsa State Coordinator, Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo in her brief to the Director General said all the Corps Members have adjusted to camp life.

Similarly, the Rivers State Coordinator, Mr George Mfongang disclosed that the 1,800 registered Corps Members comprising 663 males and 1,137 females have exceptionally displayed high level of patriotism, discipline, commitment, enthusiasm and respect for the constituted authority.
