NYSC DG appeals for stakeholders support

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has appealed to stakeholders especially State Governors to upscale their statutory responsibilities to the Scheme.

He said this would enhance the efforts of NYSC in contributing to national unity, youth empowerment and socio-economic development of the country.

The Director General disclosed this while speaking on the sidelines of his visit to NYSC Lagos State Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.

He also advised Corps Employers not to reject any Corps Member posted to their establishments for primary assignment, but create a conducive environment for them to unleash their potentials for societal growth.

Speaking further during his visit to the Corps Members in Lagos and Ogun State Orientation Camps, the Director General warned them against self-induced rejection.

He warned that any Corps Member found culpable of this would be dealt with according to NYSC byelaws.

“Remain focused and abide by the NYSC rules and regulations. Don’t deface NYSC uniforms and try to adhere to the Scheme’s dress code at all times”, the DG said.

In her camp report to the Director General, the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa said all the 2,876 Corps Members made up of 1,067 males and 1,809 females are responding to camp directives.

Also, Ogun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Diana Nasamu stated that a total 2,762 Corps Members comprising 922 males and 1,423 females for Ogun and 66 males with 351 females who were dislodged from Lagos State have adapted to the regimented camp life, while camp officials have displayed strong synergy.
