The Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, has urged youth corps members posted to Nasarawa State to formulate good and workable plans toward self-development and reliance.
The call is in a statement signed by Mrs Lucy Laha, the Public Relations Officer of the scheme in the state, made available in Lafia on Wednesday.
Laha stated that the Director General made the call during an unscheduled visit to the Magaji Dan Yamusa Permanent NYSC Orientation Camp in Keffi Local Government Area of the state where the 2021 Batch B Stream I corps members were currently undergoing orientation exercise.
The NYSC boss then congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of their tertiary education and welcomed them into the NYSC.
She stated that Ibrahim also admonished them to always create plans toward self reliance instead of waiting for white collar jobs.
She quoted him as saying “take advantage of the opportunities in NYSC by involving yourselves in Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) training to learn marketable skills because in all you do, you must have a plan or several plans to secure your future.
“The NYSC supports inter-tribal marriages. Impact on your host communities and strive for excellence or at least the Presidential Honors Award.”
The Director General, in company of the NYSC Coordinator in Nasarawa State, Mr Abdullahi Jikamshi and other camp officials inspected the level of work at the North-Central SAED centre being built at the camp.
