NYSC: Benue State Coordinator task Corps members to integrate freely with host communities

Benue State Coordinator,  National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), Mr. Shicha Joshua Simon  has charged Youth Corps Members to freely integrate with members of their host communities and actively participate in their Developmental efforts through effective Service delivery and Community development services.

The NYSC Coordinator also enjoined the Corps Members to uphold the dream of their founding fathers who have established the scheme as a platform for driving national integration and harnessing the inherent potentials of the Youths for national development.

Shicha gave the charge while delivering a speech at the occasion of the closing ceremony of the 2021 Batch ‘A’  Stream l Orientation Camp, Wannune, Tarka local government area of the State.

He urged Corps Members to promptly report to their places of Primary assignment and settle down for the service year.

“As patriotic citizens of this great nation, we do not expect you to parade the streets of Makurdi, seeking Godfathers that would mount pressure on the Secretariat to change your posting from the rural areas to the urban centers.

” On our part, as managers of the scheme, as much as God permits us, we shall continue to provide you with the requisite enabling environment to allow you optimize your potentials towards contributing to national development.

“We shall endeavour to pay regular visits to your various locations to ensure that your welfare is adequately handled. Our local government Inspectors will always be available to help you go through the challenges you may encounter while settling down ” Shicha maintained.

The Coordinator further advised Corps Members to be security conscious by keeping abreast with the security tips provided by men of the Department of State Services in the course of the orientation exercise in view of the contemporary security challenges present in the country.

“In similar vein,   all  COVID – 19 rules must be kept and adhered to at your places of Primary Assignment. You can serve as vehicles of information and direction, regarding the Pandemic, especially those posted to the rural areas.

” I admonish you to represent the scheme proudly in the various communities you will be posted to. Seek new ways to tackle the challenges they face and in doing so, leave your footprints on the sand’s of time. I charge you to stay away from acts capable of damaging the corporate image of the scheme”. He stated.

Shicha  further explained that all Camp. activities were conducted in strict compliance with the policy direction of NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja with closer monitoring by the NYSC North Central Area Office, located in Minna, Niger State.
