Silas Nwoha congratulated by The Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prof. Mohammed Sambo, on his new appointment as Editor-in-Chief of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Sambo in a congratulatory message, he personally signed on Thursday in Abuja, described Nwoha’s appointment.
”I write on behalf of the family of NHIS to congratulate you on your recent appointment as Editor-in-Chief of NAN, Nigeria’s foremost news hub and media institution.
“I have no scintilla of doubt, whatsoever that your appointment is aptly a culmination of your hard work and commitment to the development of the media industry in Nigeria and across the continent of Africa.
“The NHIS is mandated by its enabling law to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to all Nigerians through the implementation of a health insurance system that makes healthcare service delivery accessible and affordable.
“In order to achieve the foregoing lofty mandate of the scheme, the Nigeria citizenry will require to be abreast with the entire benefits of health insurance through sustained public enlightenment and education.’’
Sambo stressed that the NHIS had found NAN a responsible corporate citizen and worthy and dependable partner for support and collaboration.
“The scheme is confident that you will bring to the fore, your timed-tested experience in collaboration, especially now that the NHIS has been rebranded and is driven on the wheels of value re-orientation, transparency and accountability and acceleration towards the attainment of the UHC.
“While we felicitate with you on your well-deserved appointment and look forward to a robust partnership with your agency, kindly accept the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem.
The Federal Government named Nwoha Editor-in-Chief of NAN on Nov. 23 last year.
The new editor-in-chief was educated at the Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha; Christ the King College, Onitsha and Lagos State University, Ojo Lagos.
He took a master’s degree in political science from the University and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Ogba, Ikeja Lagos.
Nwoha also attended the Lagos Business and the Pan Atlantic University, Ajah, Lagos.
He is also a Bloomberg scholar.
