NURTW member hit by a stray bullet in Garki

A member of National Union of Road Transport Worker, NURTW, Abdurrahman Mohd, 37 of Kwanar Garki Quarters was allegedly hit by a stray bullet from a team of Nigeria Customs Service.

The men of the Customs Service while on boarder drill were pursuing  suspected smugglers in Garki LGA.

Abdurrahman claimed  to be dusting off his car outside Garki motor park when he saw a fast approaching vehicle of Nigeria Customs Service with No.16 boldly written on it. “They suddenly stopped and a personnel of the said agency aimed at him, but an officer of the Nigerian Army told him not to shoot, within a blink of an eye, the officer fired at me.” He said he found himself in a hospital after regaining consciousness.

Luckily, the bullet only brushed his stomach leaving behind wound that was treated at the Garki General Hospital.

On sighting the ugly incident, the officers fled. A signal was sent by the Garki Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Divisional Officer to its counterpart in Gumel to mount a road block at Gumel road, in order to apprehend them. Though, there was no success.

Abdurrahman Mohd is a member of Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Garki Branch.

The spokesman of NURTW, Adamu Shehu, has confirmed the incident.
