NSCDC secures approval to begin 2025 recruitment exercise
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has received official approval to recruit qualified Nigerian youth into the corps in 2025.
The Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, made this announcement on Wednesday in Abuja during the inauguration of the NSCDC Bwari Divisional Office.
Audi confirmed that the corps had been granted approval to recruit eligible Nigerians, although the specific date for the commencement of the recruitment process would be communicated to the public in due course.
“We are preparing to commence recruitment officially. We appreciate Mr President for granting approval to enlist disciplined and patriotic Nigerians into the service,” he stated.
Commending the Bwari Area Council for constructing the new divisional office, Audi stated that the facility would enhance security efforts in the area.
“The corps is proud of this initiative and remains committed to collaborating with you. We will provide all necessary support as a gesture of appreciation,” he assured.
The Commandant-General urged other area divisions to emulate Bwari and Kwali, which had already provided new buildings to aid the corps in fulfilling its mandate.
According to him, security agencies in Nigeria operate through synergy, and the NSCDC continues to play a complementary role to other law enforcement bodies.
“Our personnel perform complementary roles, and that is why, after apprehending certain suspects, we ensure they are handed over to the appropriate authorities while maintaining civility,” Audi explained.
He further emphasised that credible intelligence from residents had played a vital role in preventing security threats across various communities.
In his remarks, the FCT Commandant of the Corps, Olusola Odumosu, expressed gratitude to Bwari Area Council Chairman, Dr John Gabaya, for funding the construction of a fully equipped divisional office for the corps.
Odumosu, however, noted that the provision of office furniture and necessary equipment would further enhance the functionality of the division.
He also highlighted the challenges faced by the corps, particularly vehicle maintenance and fuelling for operational duties, and called for increased support.
“Now that the division has a more suitable facility to operate from, we will deploy additional personnel and operational tools to strengthen security,” he assured.
Odumosu also revealed that, since assuming office, the FCT Command had established: Two additional divisions, Two area commands, Several observation posts.
He noted that these strategic expansions were aimed at bringing security services closer to the people and enhancing security assessments at the local level.
“This approach allows for a deeper understanding of the security challenges faced by communities, leading to more effective operational planning,” he stated.
Odumosu further disclosed that the corps had secured land allocation for the construction of the Gwagwalada Divisional Office.
Additionally, he provided updates on ongoing infrastructure projects, stating: the new Durumi Division is nearing completion; existing Chika Division has been further developed; a new temporary structure has been established for the Jabi Division.
The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing security operations, ensuring that officers have the necessary infrastructure and resources to safeguard lives and property.
