NSCDC inducts 136 new recruits in Imo State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inducted 136 new recruits for year 2022 into the Corps in Imo.

Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Mr Ahmed Abubakar-Audi performed the induction in a brief ceremony at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri, on Wednesday.

Abubakar-Audi was represented by the Corps’ Head, Directorate of Critical Infrastructure and National Assets, Mr Nnamdi Nwiyi, a Deputy Commandant-General.

He urged the new recruits to eschew indiscipline and approach their duties with a sense of responsibility.

He said that the recruits would be continuously redeployed to various departments in the Command, from time to time, to enable them broaden their experience and have a firm grasp of their new job.

He, however, assured them of his commitment to their welfare and that of the entire corps.

“Over the next few weeks to come, you will be shuffled between various departments of the Command, to help you get acquainted with the core values of the corps.

“The job market is saturated, do not misuse this opportunity. By the power conferred on me by the C-G, I hereby induct you fully as officers and men of the NSCDC,” he said.

Speaking, Zonal Commander, Zone ‘E’ of the NSCDC, Mr Aliyu Musa, called on the recruits to embrace the hallmarks of discipline and competence in the discharge of their duties.

He thanked the trainers for ‘a job well done’ and implored the new recruits to live above board and live up to expectation.

In his remark, Commandant of the Corps in Imo, Mr Matthew Ovey, charged the new recruits to give back to the Corps and to the country, having been equipped with requisite training.

He warned that acts of indiscipline, corruption, or unruly behaviour would not be tolerated, and called on them to readily collaborate with other security agencies for increased performance.

“You have gone through the crucibles of this training, and have been equipped to begin to give back to the corps and society at large.

“Any act of indiscipline, corruption or unruly behavior will not be tolerated as disciplinary measures will be taken when appropriate,” he said.

Highlights of the event were the inspection of parade by the C-G, karate, stripling and assembling displays by the newly inducted recruits.
