The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State, says it has detained two suspects for impersonation.
The command Spokesman, Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, said in a statement on Monday in Kano, that the suspects were arrested in the premises of a popular TV station in the state.
He said the suspects, names withheld, were arrested by the operatives of the Corps attached to Tarauni Divisional Office, Kano.
“The suspects (allegedly) impersonated operatives of the Corps by parading themselves as such,” he said.
He alleged that the suspects stormed some ministries and agencies of government in Kano, intimidating the officials and extorting money from them.
Idris-Abdullahi said that the suspects were arrested at the premises of a renowned television station in the state.
He said they had allegedly intimidated and threatened a senior management staff of the media house, where they allegedly attempted to extort money from them.
“Upon investigation, the duo (allegedly) confessed to the crime. One of the suspects was found in possession of a fake NSCDC identity card and an inner wear bearing the Corps logo,” Idris-Abdullahi added.
He noted that upon completion of the investigation, the suspects would be charged to court for impersonation of a public servant, conspiracy, intimidation, and extortion.
