NSCDC arrests three for illegal mining, cable theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has apprehended three individuals suspected of illegal mining and stealing armoured cables.
This was disclosed in a statement by the command’s spokesman, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, on Wednesday in Akure.
Aidamenbor stated that two of the suspects were arrested on August 13 for illegal mining activities in the Oke-Igbo area of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo in the state.
He reported that the suspects, Modashiru Nasiru, 18, and Hassan Yaya, 19, were engaged in unlicensed mining activities.
The public relations officer further revealed that another suspect, Aloa Segun, 40, was arrested for the theft of armoured cables.
According to him, the investigation led to the recovery of armoured cables, recline cables, and a generator, all valued at N3.3 million, from the suspect.
He added that the suspects would be prosecuted once the investigations are completed.
