NSCDC arrests Kwara man over alleged fraud
A 42-year-old man identified as Abdulsalam Ajibola has been arrested by the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in Kwara State over alleged scam of two admission seekers whom he promised to help to get admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
Ajibola was arrested at Oke Onigbin in Isin Local Government Area of the state where he allegedly impersonated a soldier to defraud some people whom he promised to secure admission at the NDA.
He had collected the sum of N796,000 from two people including Abdullahi Saheed and Ropo Gabriel, promising them admission at the NDA.
He also allegedly took a Toyota Picnic car from a prophet identified as Samuel Olugbemiga with the purpose of engaging in commercial transportation but later absconded with it.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, DSC Ayeni Olasunkanmi, confirmed the arrest of Ajibola in a press statement released in Ilorin on Monday.
According to the statement, “The tracking Unit of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command apprehended one Abdulsalam Ajibola, a 42-year-old, for allegedly impersonating a soldier to defraud some Nigerians.
“The suspect was tracked down at Oke-Onigbin, in Isin LGA, Kwara state on the 24th of March, 2023 by the tracking Unit of the Command.
“Abdulsalam was alleged to have impersonate Soldier to defrauded Abdullahi Saheed of N700,000 and Ropo Gabriel to the tune of N96,000 having promised to help them get admission into Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna.
“He was alleged to have also falsely took a Toyota picnic car from one Prophet Samuel Olugbemiga for Commercial transportation after which he absconded.”
Ayeni said that the suspect would be arraigned before the court for prosecution after a thorough investigation of the alleged crime.
