NPFL: Enyimba boss, Finidi faces fitness, suspension issues ahead of Remo Stars clash

Enyimba head coach, George Finidi is sweating over the fitness of some of his key players ahead of Wednesday’s (today) Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Remo Stars.

The duo of Philip Ozor and Chibuike Nwaiwu are doubtful for the game after picking up injuries in Enyimba’s last game against Kwara United.

Reliable midfielder Imo Obot is already ruled out after picking up injury in the 3-0 win against Kwara United.

Goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke will miss the game against the Sky Blue Stars as he serves the second of his three-game suspension for the red card against Plateau United.

Enyimba have won two, drawn one and lost one of their four NPFL games this season.

Remo Stars will look to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Bendel Insurance in Benin City.

EPL: Liverpool in talks with Arne Slot to replace Klopp

Liverpool have opened talks with Feyenoord about appointing Arne Slot as their new manager.

According to Sky Sports, Slot is now the favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The Dutchman is believed to tick all their key criteria for the role and the process could move quickly with the 45-year-old keen to join the Reds.

Slot lifted the KNVB Cup last weekend and guided Feyenoord to their first title in six years last season.

He appeals to Liverpool due to his aggressive, full-throttle style.

Slot’s penchant for a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation also fits Liverpool’s squad.

Guardiola confirms Haaland injury blow ahead of Brighton vs Man City

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said Erling Haaland will miss their Premier League trip to Brighton because of injury.

Haaland was not included in the squad for the FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea on Saturday, after picking up a muscle problem against Real Madrid.

The Norway striker has not featured since then and is yet to resume training.

Guardiola, speaking at his press conference today, confirmed that Haaland will not play against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Thursday.

However, Phil Foden and John Stones are available for selection.

“Erling is not ready for tomorrow [against Brighton].

“It’s not a big issue but he’s not allowed for this game,” Guardiola said.

EPL: Lee Sharps wants ex-PSG coach to replace Ten Hag at Man Utd

Former Manchester Player, Lee Sharps wants former Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag’s long-term future at Man United is unclear because of the Re Devils’ performances this season.

Man United currently sit outside of the Premier League top four behind the likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.

In a recent interview with DAZN, Sharpe said:

“If I were choosing and Erik ten Hag was to go, Unai Emery would be at the top of my list.

“I think given the support and the full backing, he could replicate what he has done at [Aston] Villa. I think he’d be a class manager for United.”
