NPFL board increases referees allowance for new season
The Nigeria Professional Football League board has approved an increase in the payment of referees for the 2023-24 season.
An increment of 30% has been made with the support of the league’s strategic partners, GTI Assets Management.
The Chairman of the NPFL, Gbenga Elegbeleye said the increment was based on the general increase in cost of transportation all over the country.
“We are not unaware of the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on transportation.
“Increasing the allowance of the Match Officials by 30% is the right thing to do”, he stated.
The new season has been slated to start on Saturday, September 9, with a flag off fixture between Shooting Stars (3SC) and Plateau United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.
