Notorious motorcycle snatcher apprehended in Ogun

In a significant breakth rough, local vigilante operatives in Ogun State successfully apprehended a 28-year-old alleged notorious motorcycle snatcher, Wasiu Adebanji, during an operation.

Adebanji was caught alongside his accomplices, Opeyemi Olatoye and John Awoniyi.

While Adebanji was apprehended, his two partners managed to evade capture, leaving authorities determined to bring them to justice.

According to a statement released by SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, preliminary investigations have revealed that the three suspects are part of a well-organized syndicate that has been operating since March 2023, specializing in motorcycle snatching.

This arrest marks a significant blow to their criminal activities, as law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to dismantle the syndicate entirely.

During the operation, two BAJAJ motorcycles, suspected to be stolen, were successfully recovered from Adebanji’s residence.

This discovery further solidifies the suspicion that the arrested suspect and his accomplices were actively involved in the theft and illegal trade of motorcycles.

Motorcycle theft has become a growing concern in recent years, with criminals exploiting the vulnerability of motorcycle owners.

The stolen motorcycles are often used for various illicit activities or sold in the black market, causing financial loss and distress to the victims.

The Police spokerson said investigations are currently ongoing to apprehend the fleeing members of the syndicate.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, psc, while commending the bravery and swift action of the Volunteer Neighborhood Watch as well as the timely intervention of the Police patrol team, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities for a safer and more secure environment for all.

“The suspects will face appropriate charges under the law upon conclusion of investigations,” the Ogun Police Command spokesperson concluded.
