Nollywood actor Junior Pope survives boat mishap — AGN confirms
The Nollywood community was engulfed in a wave of relief and gratitude on Wednesday night as the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) debunked rumors of the demise of popular actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, affectionately known as Jnr Pope.
Earlier in the day, distressing reports had circulated, alleging that the actor had tragically perished in a boat accident along with three companions on the Anam River in Anambra State.
Filmmaker Samuel Olatunji’s Instagram post announcing the purported passing of Junior Pope and his fellow travelers had cast a pall of sorrow over the industry. Olatunji’s somber message read, “Junior Pope passes on. Sad day for Nollywood.
“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to location and their bodies have been recovered.”
The news escalated throughout the entertainment sphere, prompting an outpouring of condolences and prayers for the bereaved families.
However, the AGN swiftly intervened to clarify the situation, affirming that Junior Pope had survived the ordeal.
In a reassuring statement posted on their Instagram page, the AGN announced, “Junior Pope is alive. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital.”
The revelation dispelled the grim speculation, sparking a collective sigh of relief among fans and colleagues alike.
