Nobody will give his/her best where they are not appreciated — Osun Speaker

Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has called on Nigerian citizens to appreciate all political office-holders with due respect and honour in order to encourage them to intensify more effort to serve the country

The Speaker urged citizens to keep away from bullying political officeholders for them to continue discharging their responsibilities with full energy while in office and beyond.

Owoeye said this on Thursday, while playing host to the team of Nigerian NewsDirect 12th Anniversary Awards Ceremony in his Quarters in Osogbo, Osun State capital, led by the Publisher, Dr Samuel Ibiyemi.

Receiving the invitation cards, Owoeye commended the team for honouring as him the Best State Speaker of the Year of the Nigerian NewsDirect, saying the Best State Speaker Award will be a new challenge for him to do more in office as one of the political officeholders in the state and Nigerian as a whole.

The Speaker said that honouring people with Award will send signal to awardees that thousands of people are watching their good doing in the society and to do more for the betterment of all.

According to him, “Giving an award to political officeholders is a way to encourage them to do more. Nobody will give his/her best where they are not appreciated.

“Giving out an award is to encourage politicians and other aspect of life. Those that deem it fit giving me award, I sincerely appreciate you all,” the speaker said

Speaking, the Publisher of Nigerian NewsDirect, Dr. Samuel Ibiyemi said that the Nigerian NewsDirect 12th Anniversary and Award Ceremony Committee resolved to honour Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye as the 7th Osun State House of Assembly Speaker for his outstanding roles.

Ibiyemi said that the Speaker remain firm regardless of the intimidation and oppression, saying that Osun Assembly as the legislative Arm of the Government remains united under his leadership.
