NOA task traditional, religious leaders on COVID-19 sensitisation

National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on traditional and religious leaders to intensify efforts toward sensitising people to observe COVID-19 protocols to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

The Director of NOA in Adamawa, Malam Muhammed Gabdo, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Yola on Tuesday.

Gabdo said more sensitisations on COVID-19 would help to pass on the message of President Muhammadu Buhari on the Executive Order that made mask-wearing and observation of social distancing in the public mandatory.

According to him, the public should understand that the country is experiencing unprecedented infections of the dreaded virus, running into hundreds of thousand since the incursion of the second wave of the virus.

He added that “with this challenge, more sensitisations in the communities and rural dwellers are needed.

“So, the traditional and religious leaders have vital roles to play by sensitising people to observe the protocols, especially the use of face mask, regular hand washing and social distance.”

The NOA director said that observing the protocols would help a great deal in curbing the spread of the virus.
