Osun State Ministry of Education has dismissed the report of the teachers recruitment in the state, saying the forthcoming Education Summit will give a direction on it.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr Murtala Jimoh and made available to journalists in Osogbo.
The Ministry of Education through the statement said that the report in some sections of the media that the government is ready to recruit teachers is misleading.
The statement enjoined members of the public to disregard the report which emanated from a press conference held to announce the commencement of an Education Summit to reposition the state’s education sector.
According to the statement, “Yes, it is true that our schools need more teachers, but it is not something that we can just jump into. There are steps and procedures to be taken to recruit teachers.
“For a section of the media to just begin to spread falsehood that the government is set for teacher’s recruitment is heartbreaking.
“It’s true that the issue of teacher’s recruitment was mentioned during the Press Conference, but not that it is starting now. We are having an education summit, the issue of teacher’s recruitment and other issues bothering the education sector will be addressed, that is what was discussed.
“We implore members of the public to disregard the media report when the State is ready to recruit teachers, the public will be adequately informed.”
