The immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has accused President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for not capturing Economic Experts in its weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The Ex-Governor made the disclosure while featuring as one of the Key Discussants during the two day Conference of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) held at Transcrop Hilton Abuja on Wednesday.
Dr. Sanusi who joined the meeting virtually tagged ” Diversion and gender inclusion in Economic recovery” stressed that it is important to recognize diversity and inclusion not only as metrics for growth but as asset.
He said ” the effect of the economy downturn should shouldn’t be surprised when the government will be having FEC meeting every week without the economists team.
” There’s no economists in this government since 1015 and lack of recognition for the need for diversity in all remaification is affecting competency and skills input in the government.
According to him, business in Nigeria have the potential to increase financial performance through the advancement of diversity.
” There is a growing trend wetowards having more females in leadership positions which must be sustained in the Sector to continuously grow sustainability.
The Former CBN Governor faulted the 1999 Constitution for not making provisions for the inclusion certain percentage of women and youths in the occupation of positions in the country.
According to him, aside the European countries some African Countries like Rwanda has achieved 55 per cent women participation in governance which Nigeria can take a queue from this.
