NMDPRA tasks Fire Service on outbreaks

The Kwara Coordinator of Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulation Authority (NMDPRA), Mr Balogun Ibrahim has tasked the Department of Fire Service to eliminate incessant fire outbreaks in the state.

A statement signed by Mr Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Department, Media and Publicity, quoted Ibrahim saying this during his visit to the Director, Kwara Fire Service, Mr John Olumuyiwa, in Ilorin on Thursday.

NMDRA was formerly known as Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

The coordinator said the aim of the visit was to discuss how to eliminate or drastically reduce the recent incessant fire outbreaks that have been recorded in filling stations across the state.

He tasked the Fire Service to come up with good strategic plans that would promote their safety.

He pledged to support the implementation of the safety guidelines in order to eradicate the menace of fire incidents in the state.

Responding, the state director of Fire Service, gave detailed safety guidelines, saying it adoption will prevent fire occurrences in the state.
