NMA calls for security summit over banditry in ZamfarThe Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Zamfara State has advised the state government to urgently organise a security summit that would proffer solutions to banditry in the state.
Addressing reporters in Gusau, the Chairman of the association, Dr. Mannir Bature said the state government needs to do something very quick as even the medical personnel taking medical care of victims of banditry are not saved.
The Chairman said the Federal Government should have the political will to tackle the security challenges in the country, especially in the North.
According to him, the medical practitioners and community receive victims of banditry almost on daily basis.
Dr. Bature informed that banditry victims have continued to come in dozens with little human resources to care for them in the various medical facilities.
“Just last Wednesday, the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau received some victims who were attacked at Gada community of Bungudu Local Government Area of the State which included soldiers, Police and vigilante operatives.”
He called on the Federal and Zamfara State governments to, as a matter of urgency, tackle the menace ravaging the entire state, pointing out that it would reduce the harrowing effects on residents.
