NLNG’s Bonny plant still in operation

Nigeria LNG Limited has confirmed that operations at its plant on Bonny Island is still active despite a Force Majeure declared in October 2022 and feedgas supply challenges.

The General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development,Mr Andy Odeh said in a statement that the plant continues to produce LNG and LPG commensurate to the feed gas it receives from its upstream gas suppliers.

In addition to ensuring steady operation,  he noted that NLNG remains committed to its culture of transparency and maintains consistent communication with key stakeholders on developments in the upstream sector.

“The company is closely monitoring the resolution of supply challenges by all relevant parties,” he asdured.

The Managing Director/CEO, Nigeria LNG Limited, Dr. Philip Mshelbila had cautioned against pipeline vandalism, oil theft, illegal refining and illegal bunkering as the energy crisis worsens in Nigeria

Speaking as a panelist during the year at the  Nigeria Oil and Gas, NOG, Local Content Conference 2022, in Abuja, Mshelbila, said, “We have people who are participating in this activity, masquerading as though this is a community problem, and pretending to be immature modular refineries. That is not the case, this is criminality, outright criminality, and it needs to be dealt with as such.”

The NLNG boss, who described these vices as major challenges facing the oil and gas industry, said: “This problem is gradually strangling our industry, and if we don’t fix it, it is the parasite that is going to kill its host.”
