NLC’s protest grounds activities in FCT

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has grounded activities the in Central Area of FCT in continuation of its two-day nationwide protest in solidarity with the strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
NLC on Tuesday began its two-day nationwide protest.
Members of the NLC had protested in Oyo, Kaduna, Edo, Kano, and Lagos states, where they grounded government and official activities across the states as photographs of the protest marches.
In Abuja, the protest which took off from the popular Unity Fountain is being attended by scores of protesters who wielded placards with several inscriptions such as “End ASUU Strike Now”, “Stop importation of petrol”, “refine the refineries’, “Nigeria at 60 years of independence, more hunger in the land”, etc.
The NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, who addressed the crowd said the union would embark on a three-day warning strike if the Nigerian government fails to meet their demands and negotiate with the striking lecturers.
A former senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, who also joined the protest, urged Government to do what is necessary.
The protesters, led by Comrade Ayuba, were well protected with different security forces while they marched from Unity Fountain to National Assembly.
